The Exuberant Caribbean Adventure gives you the opportunity to explore a mix of different cultures in one region including Guatemalans, Mayans, and Afro-Guatemalans. Learn about the Caribbean Garifuna culture in the town of Livingston and discover their food and customs. Enjoy a hike in a beautiful reserve where you can enjoy the waterfalls of Las Escobas River and have the opportunity to refresh yourself in the natural pool before concluding your adventure at a hotel in Amatique Bay where you can enjoy the beautiful beach or revitalizing pool.

<p>Upon arrival into Guatemala City International Airport you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel in Guatemala City. Depending on your arrival time, you may want to join our Guatemala City Tour or prepare for Day 2.</p>

<p>Following breakfast at the hotel you will be board your air-conditioned vehicle and head towards the Caribbean state of Izabal to Rio Dulce (approximately 3 hours). Next you will head to the archaeological site of Quirigua. This Guatemalan site is known for its rich Mayan history and famous Mayan Stelae. The stelae are the tallest Maya Mesoamerica monuments built in the colonial times of the new world.</p><p></p><p>Next, you will venture to your river front hotel surrounded by astonishing lush gardens. Enjoy your wonderful bungalow on the water, relax the afternoon away, and have lunch. Please note the hotel is accessed by a 10-minute boat ride.</p>

<p>After breakfast you will enjoy a beautiful boat ride on the Dulce River. You will enjoy the breath-taking landscape that resembles the Amazon; with exuberant vegetation and river homes with palm tree stilts. You might even spot locals, mostly Mayans, fishing from handmade canoes. Discover Island of the Little Birds, mangroves paths, and the incredible Dulce River Canyon.</p><p></p><p>Visit the San Felipe Castle which is actually a fortress built by the Spaniards to protect the area from pirates. The fortress is located in a strategic location, the point where the biggest lake in Guatemala, Lake Izabal, meets the Dulce River. You will have an overnight at the Afro-Caribbean town of Livingston (only accessible by boat) which you can explore at your leisure.</p>

<p>Following breakfast enjoy a boat ride to Amatique Bay. You will conclude your adventure with a hotel stay in Amatique where you can enjoy lunch or relax at the beach or pool.</p>

<p>The transfer from Puerto Barrios to the International Airport of Guatemala City will be on first class motor coaches with air-conditioning and internet - please note this is not a private transfer. Private transfer options and pricing are available and can be booked prior to departure and are by airplane or minivan.</p>
